Taiwanese Houses October 16, 2008

In Taiwan, most people live in apartments like these.  Other people live in houses, that from the outside, look just apartments.  Those houses usually have three to four stories, with really steep stairs.  They’re sort of like your own personal apartment.  There wasn’t much else that stuck out as being radically different, other than the bathrooms.  The whole room would be the shower, with a drain in the middle of the ground.

  1. Coming from a country where we usually put little carpets around or in front of the toilet and where bathrooms are usually mini works of art (which under no circumstances are allowed to get or stay wet – Yes, mum!) it has been a pleasure to use the highly functional Taiwanese bathroom over the last 8 years.

If I ever move back home that would be one of the most difficult tings to re-adjust too, although more than likely the first thing I would do is remodel.

  2. [...] ever seen one that looks like dead dandelions before, though.  You also get another view of the type of buildings they live in over there. [...]
